This Pinot Noir has a brilliant garnet hue. On the nose and palate there are hints of juicy red fruits- predominantly dried cherry and rich raspberry. The finish is bright with a hint of black tea. The ribbon of acidity in this wine will make it a great food wine.
VINEYARD
The Pinot Noir fruit comes from Alan Holstein’s vineyard in Dundee Hills which are known for their red tinted, basalt based, volcanic “Jory” soils. This soil type tends to make wines which are elegant, mineral driven and red fruited.
WINE MAKING
The 2012 Pinot Noir was handpicked the first week of October and carefully sorted before undergoing an eight day cold soak. After a fourteen day primary fermentation the wine went into 33% new French Oak barrels for an eleven month elevage. It was bottled unfiltered.
